You are here: Home » Page » Our Volunteers

In my hosting organization there are a lot of volunteers, but I think that all of you have to meet Olga, a girl from Poland who always has a smile on her face and makes us to smile with her.

MARTA.- Something about you, to introduce yourself:

OLGA .- Hi, I’m Olga, I’m 28 years old and I’m from Poland. I studied film production but for the last half a year I worked as a shop asistant so it was very easy to make the decision to go abroad. I’m not the youngest volunteer, but better late than never!

M.- Why did you want to be EVS?

O.- Why I wanted to be EVS volunteer? The most important reason was, of course, the proyect RIFF (Reykjavik International Film Festival). But the place was also important, to visit Iceland was my dream for a long, long time.

M.- Do you think that your EVS experience will be positive for you, to find a job in the future?

O.- I hope so :) I think for recruitants, a person who lived abroad might be more interesting. Such a person knows many languages, are more independent, more flexible and are open minded.

In my case, I hope that the experience I gain during the RIFF project, helps me to find an interesting job connected with my studies.

M.- What was your path to becoming an EVS in Iceland?

O.- My polish sending organization is Stowarzyszenie Promocji Wolontariatu (SPW). One year ago, when I started my preparation to go for EVS, I thought it would be nice to do something for them. Therefore I became volunteer in SPW. I made a few simple videos about EVS, I was a mentor and twice I prepared photo workshops for other volunteers.

M.- Is the EVS program popular in your country?

O.- EVS is really popular in Poland. We have a lot of sending and hosting organizations. EVS is a great opportunity for young people to get experience and improve themselves.

M.- Do you know somebody who has found a job after the EVS?

O.- Yes, since a few months Gosia works in my organization. She did her EVS in Greece. She also was a mentor in SPW. Now she works as an EVS coordinator.

M.- What do you expect about your EVS in Iceland?

O.- First of all, I’m open to any new experience. But what I expect for sure is to improve my language skills. Also I would like to learn more about Iceland and icelandic culture. I’m also curious about cultures from many people with whom I live here.

About Marta

Definirme es complicado, al menos para mí. Soy una pequeña palmera con muchas, muchas ganas de aprender. De vivir todo lo nuevo que se me ponga por delante, y de disfrutar mucho de la experiencia SVE en Islandia. Vamos!
