I couldn´t believe that I was going to live there…

If someone asks me “what is the most special moment during my EVS so far?” I cannot reply with just one. My EVS is being the best experience in my life, so I have lots of special memories.

I remember the two first weeks, when we were visiting the different villages where we are going to stay during our period here in Bali and I couldn´t believe that I was going to live there. And then, during these months I´m living here, in these beautiful houses, with these friendly families and being involved in these proactive communities.

Most of the special moments are Balinese ceremonies. I really like when a family offers me to attend to the ceremonies, because you cannot understand the Balinese Hinduism without it. I love when they explain to me the meanings of the rituals and the symbols. Knowing new and different cultures enrich me.

I specially remember when I went with Parsa´s family to Besakih Temple. It is the most important for the Hindu people here in Bali and a lot of tourists visit every day this temple. But I didn´t go like a tourist (in fact, I didn´t pay any ticket), I went like a Balinese to pray. That day was important for the family I was living with for more than a month and I also felt special to share this moment like another member of that family.

About Rocio

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I love making the most of every experience of my life, I define myself as outgoing, positive and with a touch of madness. I love travelling and discovering new cultures, sharing a meal, tasting the typical drink of the country or just talking about religion or philosophic stuff while looking at the sunset. On my way, someone told me “don´t dream your life, live your dreams”, and I am in that way indeed, now making a stop in Bali.
